Welcome to SedativeChunk.com!

Hello and welcome to my website!! This site was created and is maintained by Edward Boot, who is me, and I want to introduce you to my website! I named this site after my Xbox Live gamertag and started it when I first got into web design. I now am starting my own business and will soon, hopefully, be going to college for computer science to get a career working on some large scale site.

More About This site

This site remains a landmark for my web creations, so, instead of trashing it, I wanted to bring it back to life with a new (but somewhat classic for you old school visitors) design and layout, and post some useful stuff on here and other interesting things.

New Mortal Kombat Game?!

April 18, 2008, 7:50 pm
I figured I had to come on my site after a while and post this one...

Yes, it is what you think it is... Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe! So it didn't sound good to me in the beginning, but just hearing the fact that Mortal Kombat is not dead make's me happy.

A 48 second trailer along with the image above is what we got so far, but we can say for certain that this game is coming out for PS3 and xbox 360 running on the Unreal Engine 3. For everything related to the game, check out their website. I can say for certain I am buying this one whenever it comes out!

On a side note, when the hell is the new MK movie going to come out?!?

Battlefield: Bad Company Beta

March 28, 2008, 6:29 pm

Yes, strangely after posting about the date getting pushed back, an online friend notified me that I could sign up on file planet to play the online beta for BF: BC!!

The Details

First off, here is my youtube video of my first time playing it (and I don't want to hear assholes saying I suck at the game, this was my first time playing the damn beta)

The game has a wide variety of different things to check out for being a beta. The vehicles I have used so far and have seen in the game is the hummer, the helicopter, and tanks. I have yet to see any average vehicles like a normal truck or even a dune buggy like the one seen in the previous Battlefield game.
Some different power ups I ran into were anti-tank mines, air strikes, radars, and more, most of which, you have to unlock using points gained in multiplayer mode.

Ninja Gaiden 2

March 20, 2008, 9:58 am

Beings Battlefield: Bad Company is getting pushed back to mid June, looks like I will be getting another game soon than that...

Ninja Gaiden 2

That's right! Ninja Gaiden 2! This games looks incredibly sexy with its amount of gore and blood mixed in with several weapons dealing the pain... including a katana!
Release Date: June 3, 2008

Looking forward to this one for sure! Watched the gameplay footage on Xbox Live a few weeks ago and it looks like its going to be a good game.

Battlefield: Bad Company Pushed Back!

March 11, 2008, 4:41 pm

Yes, its true! Once again another game developed by EA gets pushed back.

Battlefield: Bad Company Boxart

I was really looking forward to this one to, but it looks like I won't be getting any new games for a while. I did want to get get RSV 2, but it's practically the same thing as the first one.
When they release games with the same engine as the last game was made on, it should be called an "expansion", not an entirely new game!

Sun Microsystems buys MySQL for $1 billion

March 7, 2008, 9:06 pm

Just read on NY Times that Sun Microsystems bought MySQL.

For those of you that don't know what the heck MySQL even is, its probably the hugest open source database software in the world. Ever wonder how all those pages are stored on YouTube and Wikipedia? MySQL. Same technology running my site, and I love it. Let's hope Sun "keeps it real" if you know what I mean!

Internet Explorer 8 Beta

March 5, 2008 7:57PM

I was pumped to hear that us web developers have FINALLY CONVINCED MICROSOFT TO MAKE INTERNET EXPLORER 100% STANDARD COMPLIANT!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo.... wait a minute...

Eager to see how well they patched it up, I heard there was a beta version you can download and install on your PC to try it out. Well, there was, and heres the link:
Internet Explorer 8 Beta for Windows XP and Vista

Be warned. It is not as, well, good as you might expect (at least I was expecting it to be good). First of all, I found alot of features to be broken. My feeds gadget on my desktop quit working and IE8 would not save the feeds I would try to subscribe to. My next problem was that I tried installing an addon and IE8 keeps bringing up a message that I cannot turnoff saying the gadget is disabled when its not. Lastly, YOU CALL THIS STANDARD COMPLIANT look at this screenshot I took of my site and... well you should get the picture.

The browser does feature a button to switch back to IE7 settings, but still, I was extremely disappointed! I mean, even the Microsoft websites looked freaked up, and thats pretty damn sad.
If your still interested, try it out and see if you like it, but to put it all together in a few words, my experience with the IE8 beta was that of a half ass browser that felt like it was developed by a middle school.

Complete list of problems I encountered with the beta
  • RSS Feed Subscriber Wouldn't Work
  • Add-ons wouldn't work
  • Sites I visited, including the Microsoft Windows sites, were messed up
  • Flash Player wasn't and would not install
  • Shockwave would not install
  • Information Bar would not shut off
  • Integration with windows features such as the gadgets sidebar failed to load
  • Browser wanted to restart when switching to IE7 rendering mode
  • CSS support is pathetic; rollover buttons don't even work!
And the rest of the web is downright useless without half of those features in a browser... I'll stick with Firefox for now.

Microsoft Silverlight

March 2, 2008 1:18PM

Brought the feeds up on my desktop today and read about some new features that were on Windows (which I didn't find and they MS post stuff like that just to get their traffic up). While I was on their site, I came across this "program".

It is some kind of program that.. well here's their definition of it:

" A browser plugin that allows web applications to be developed with features like animation, vector graphics, and audio-video playback - features that characterize a rich internet application. "

Um... okay, has anyone found a damn use for this thing? I installed it and it does nothing. They say you can even create your own digital web applications and stuff with it. The thing that turned me off from it was when I read the following quote on Wikipedia:

" Version 2.0 of Silverlight provides additional capabilities, including advanced interactivity features. Significantly, version 2.0 allows developers to use .NET languages and development tools when authoring Silverlight applications. "

If it has anything to do with the .NET programming language, I'm out!!! Linux all the way, baby! I don't support those programming languages, I do not like the way they are written and structured.

George Carlin HBO Special

March 1, 2008 5:01PM

Ah, haven't posted anything in a while so I thought I would add some fresh content. Been working hard this week on a few scripts and a job this weekend and have been looking forward to this George Carlin special on today!!!

HBO really has been showing crap as of lately, and I am glad to see something funny coming on after all the crap going on with the writers strike and everything...

Anyway, as for me, I have gotten alot done on this site. All the spam proofing is pretty much finished and I love the layout! I am going to be adding more layouts soon and users can switch to their favorite one(s).

My Birthday

February 10, 2008 11:32PM

YESSSSSSSSS!!! FINALLY A LEGAL ADULT!! Today I turned 18 years old. Yes, I can't believe how fast it went by. Last year of high school, getting my black belt, everything is coming together!
Anyway, to the stuff I got. Besides the free things like I have been getting from major corporations, like a free (but very nice) razor blade by Gillete, I mean one of them bad muthaf***ers with 5 blades, and a free can of shaving gel to go along with that, and a few other things I got, my main presents were different from what I usually get.
My mom got me a 5 speaker 5.1 surround sound system that I can hook up to just about anything.. my recording equipment, PC, Ipod, Xbox 360 (which sounds sooo sexy with the the volume turned up), and just about anything can hook to it. But besides that... I also got... a bunch of gym equipment. Yes, tons of weight sets, push up workouts, and other goods. Take a look...

Along this was an exercise ball, a few DVDS, and more. One thing I liked was the perfect pushup. It really is a good workout and after using this stuff hardcore today, my shoulders are very sore and I feel pain in alot of wierd places in my chest and arms... but I love it!! I lift weights alot and it is nice to have all this stuff, I am going to use it alot and it will help in training for my black belt test coming up soon were I have to do 50 knuckle push ups on a cement block.
Oh yea, let's not forget my latest add to the sword collection! I bought myself a new boken the other day in suncoast. It's a real boken that I already used in some contact use. It's got a cloth grip wrapped around it like a traditional katana, and I like that because it slips out of my hands less. I do have to super glue it though, its sliding off way to easily!
Well it's been a long day. I hope to see more people start coming to my site again. I like it! I based the banner off of outer space stuff, I have been playing alot of mass effect, the shuttle just went up, and I have an interest in space travel! Let me know your input on it all.

Rocky On Alert

February 7, 2008 1:09PM

Hooked my camera up to the PC for the first time in a few weeks. I had some pictures I took of my puppy rocky in the snow from a while back, it came out surprisingly very well and it even got stills of the snow falling...
